Meeting of participants and departure for Pontremoli, crossroads of Apennine routes between the south of the peninsula, the Po Valley and northern Europe. An ancient free commune during the Middle Ages it was traveled by pilgrims because the ancient Via Francigena passed through here.
Meeting with guide, visit to Piagnaro Castle, a military fortress defending Pontremoli since the Middle Ages and currently home to the Stele Statue Museum, truly fascinating and mysterious prehistoric statues.
A walk through the historic center will complete our visit. Tasting of typical local sweets, the “Amor”.
Lunch in a restaurant, afternoon visit to Palazzo Dosi Magnavacca. End of services.
